The 'Crataegus Monogyna' is a common shrub, hedge or small tree. The hawthorn blooms in spring with beautiful white and strong-smelling flowers. The hawthorn has many spines which makes the plant impenetrable, making the plant an ideal breeding ground for birds. The plant can be planted in any soil type and can be pruned in April and September to keep the hedge tight. The Hawthorn produces many dark red berries in the fall and will flower again in the spring.
